Heritage. Northrop Grumman remembers.

How many Admirals in Navy Air are kicking themselves for retiring instead of upgrading the F-14?

  1. Heh. This is a pretty smart counterweight to all the rank amateurs out there insisting BVR still hasn't come into its own to support their own 'close-in-engagements-and-simple-airplanes-first!' philosophy. Of course, the professionals concluded that longer range and initial engagements were more important after AIMVAL/ACEVAL, just as the video illustrates (Northrop needs to tell 'Wigs' to stop saying ACE-eh-Val though). AIMVAL/ACEVAL was going down about the time Boyd was polishing his energy-maneuvering theories for the furball engaement. His disciples never looked outside Boyd's crusade for the changes to the sequence of events PRIOR to the furball. 'Boots' Blesse vs. Winslow Wheeler and Pierre Sprey: That's two more kills for 'Boots'.Good Stuff!
