  1. The Army should buy AMAP armor like they did with chobham to use for M1A3. I've read that the Army is developing a composite armor very similar to AMAP using titanium alloys and nano ceramics. Leopard 2 upgrades should be a model of what this ECP upgrade for the Abrams should look like. Its very disappointing watching the Germans develop better tanks than us.

  2. While I agree regarding watching their development it's really geared around the export market. They're down to about 400 Leopard 2's in service.

    2. So what that they only have 400 leo 2's? They had over 2,000 during the cold war. The Germans are selling the hell out of their tanks while our abrams tank production line is closing! We need to build more Abrams tank variants to compete with leo 2.

  3. The Krauts ain't building, they've just been selling their inventory of older Leopard 2A4s for which this armor package is intended.

We aren't building Abrams as we're sitting on thousands. An armor package like this might be suited to older, non-US Abram tanks that don't have DU.
