Chinese Marines are now off the coast of Syria.

Massive thanks to Alexander over at Naval History Twitter/Blog...

Ok.  If this is true then its settled.  Our guys in the State Dept are rookies and the Chinese and Russians played us like a fiddle.  Check this out from Debka Files...
A Chinese landing craft with 1,000 marines for Syria – reports DEBKAfile September 6, 2013, 12:31 PM (GMT+02:00)
Western naval sources reported Friday that a Chinese landing craft, the Jinggangshan, with a 1,000-strong marine battalion had reached the Red Sea en route for the Mediterranean off Syria.  According to DEBKAfile, Beijing has already deployed a number of warships opposite Syria in secret. If the latest report is confirmed, this will be the largest Chinese deployment in the Middle East in its naval history.
Uh.

Wow.

If I didn't know better I'd think that they were preparing to block our strikes or inhibit our operations. They're drinking our milkshake.

  1. Okay, now I'm seriously starting to get worried. And when I say worried, I don't mean just the this-could-blow-up-in-our-face type worried. I'm worried in the this-could-unite-China-and-Russia-against-us-Cold-War-style type worried.

If our own administration has made us look enough like a threat to a point where China and Russia are willing to put aside their differences to team up on us I think we could have a problem on our hands that will affect us for the next decade at least. During the Cold War one of the major strategic victories we won was to play off a partnership with China against Russia. Now it looks like Vladimir Putin, who has had serious talks with Xi Jingping, his Chinese counterpart, has seemed to do the same thing against us. Putin has spent a good amount of time building a relationship with him.

I don't know how far I'd go as to trust DEBKAfile since they have been wrong in the past. However, if this report is true and the Chinese have moved forces into the Med then all the stakes in the game just went up and the odds aren't looking good for us.

  2. i'm not worried at all.

our guys are too chickenshit to do anything really aggressive and too stupid to realize that they're being played.

what should concern us all is how Russia and China now view us. we're the silly, naive, juvenile kids on the international diplomacy playground and they don't even have to try to beat us.

the 2nd terms always bring out the Presidential B teams but i never thought Kerry would be this incompetent.

don''t worry about other countries. worry about the clowns we have in charge.

    1. yes, agreed the ones in charge are more dangerous than any enemy, not because they are bad ast MoFo's but because the Obama team is a collection of holier than thou fools.
A fool will kill you faster than any focused enemy.
That stupid Red Line remark which POTUS never intended to enforce sure screwed his pooch.

  3. It will stretch on "in progress" or "in talks" for ever and nothing will get done for good or ill and the Russian will continue to make us look stupid and Putin will probably get a nobel prize next year

  6. What a better bait for war than a CHICOM LPD getting sunk off Syria.
