China's new Type 55 Destroyer.

7 comments :

  1. This ship is atleast 10 years away from being production stage. A chinese cyber-raide on DDG-1000 prime contractor Raytheon should remove atleast a couple of years though.

And on a serious note- The number of VLS cells that this ship might get/will get points to the fact that the Chinese are moving forward their "Saturate them with Missiles" concept out seaward. Now it wont be just taiwan which has already been saturated by missiles........they will now extend this to any nation where a Chinese Carrier Battle Group will be able to go.

    1. Solomon, that ship cannot near completion as its construction has not even started. Most of the chinese shipbuilding yards are already full of work with Surface Combatants belonging to the Type-52C/D designation. And thats a different ship altogether.

And if it is, I am most welcome to see links of that ship actually nearing completion. A ship of that tonnage and equipment profile does not bode well for us.

The Chinese are still trying to develop/steal that most awesome radar which people are talking about as the "Magic Lantern". Most components of that ship are also in various stages of Development rather than Production. No chinese shipyard has confirmed orders which it is executing right now related to the Production of ships designated Type-55.

    2. dude really? seriously? get out of your complacency! India is behind the power curve. so is Japan. so is S. Korea. so is the US!

when nations fall before Chinese might it will be for many reasons. but one of them will be "shock" at what the Chinese were able to develop due to our greed and the other will be ignoring what our lying eyes were seeing and believing all the apologists that WANT to believe that we live in a calm peaceful world and that everyone wants what we want. thats why the islamic terrorist, China, Russia and others are able to kick so much ass so easily.

      people are being willfully stupid.

    3. Sarabvir is right in some topic Sol' the Chinese shipyards are working full time on many ships, mainly the massive build up of Type-52. The Type-55 is for now only an... rumor, many speculations and fanboyism. If he is build, yeah probably it is.

But lack of ANY picture of it, not a single one of ship in dock, fast shot of bow, some element... nothing. And as we notice Chinese like to publish some photos in form of "leaks" to show there might and advance weapon systems. I say it's still couple of years from finish... let's say, 2018/19 for operation status.

Even if it's a buff up version of Type-52 it's still a complex and advance construction. And this take time.

But, I may be wrong and they already put it into water... who knows?

  3. And if this is where Chinese Naval Strategy is going- all High Tech Apeing of USA, then it would be worthwhile for any nation trying to counter China (Taiwan, Phillipnes, Vietnam etc.) to look into Iranian style assymetric counter punches.

I have no doubt that the Taiwanese can build a much better small submarine and midget submarines than the Iranians. Now Imagine the Taiwanese building upwards of 20 plus of them polluting South China Sea with killer torpedoes and submerged intelligence hardware/software. Then let the Taiwanese sell them to Vietnam and Phillipines. Label them as Oceanograhpic Research Divers to avoide military label.

40-50 small submarines, countless other Motor Torpedo Boats/Missile boats linked up to USN, USAF intelligence assets.

  4. Type 052 C/D Luyang-series destroyers, Type 054A Jiangkai II-series frigates, and Type 041 Yuan diesel-electric are already in their fleets. The Type 55 will be built in modules (in newly constructed buildings), which will speed the assembly process as the docks are made available.
