Did you hear about the hoax that had Louisville Police and the community on edge?

A little background.  This from the Inquistr.com
Residents in Louisville, Kentucky are being warned that a real life “Purge” could be planned for this weekend, and police say they are ready.
As reported by WLKY, Louisville Metropolitan Police report that posters and fliers have sprung up advertising that a ‘Purge’ crime spree would be in effect on Friday from 8:30 pm to Saturday at 6:30 am for residents in Kentucky’s largest city. Louisville MPD released a statement on the posters and fliers assuring residents that the department will be ready if there are any sort of mass disturbances.
Then this from E! online.
Yikes!
The horror franchise The Purge, in which people are legally permitted to commit crimes, including murder, for 12 hours, appeared to have inspired a hoax threat on Twitter promoting a "Louisville Purge," which even gave a time frame (that has passed). The message spooked scores of people and spurred copycat tweets and Facebook posts, some of which spoofed the original 2013 movie poster, as well as police action.
Officers recently located and spoke to the person they believe posted it, who is a teenager and has not been arrested or charged. The person told reporters on Friday that the message was meant to be a joke and has apologized for it.
"I didn't think it would really get that serious until it actually did," the teen was quoted as telling reporters, according to Louisville's NBC TV affiliate, WAVE 3. "Then I started feeling really bad about it because people's mamma's talkin' bout movin' to Indiana for the night and stuff. It was wrong for me to do that. I apologize to everybody in Louisville. I love my city. It's where I was born and raised. I love my city and don't really wanna harm my city. I just thought it would be funny."
We live in interesting times.

  1. Well, Sol'... it's time to build your home from reinforced military grade concrete, installing closed air recycling system. Dig up a solid multi level magazines with supplies, and solid number of boxes with hollow point ammo. Automated defense systems on pair with strong training regime.

    Then... let them come.

    1. you're saying it for a joke but i believe widespread civil disobedience is coming that will make Ferguson look like a picnic on a bright sunny day.

additionally the idea of bugging out to put yourself/and or your family in the middle of the madness while you get to safe location is craziness. either you leave before the troubles or you hunker down.

so yeah. home defense is in my mind paramount. i'm writing something up on bug out bags/home defense but i can't get it right. its coming though...maybe later today.

    2. Hal joke, half serious lad. Civil disobedience can very fast morph in to widespread anarchy and chaos. You got in your history some of that type of action in large cites, riots in LA or Miami. Even if something start as peaceful demonstration, maybe even in good faith it can became an bloodbath and widespread steal fest. Too many criminals, too many weapons, too many radical idiots...too many things that can spread fire like single lighting in hot day in forest. And I hope you are wrong, really...really wrong.

Hope is the mother of fools. And I try to be optimistic... but for such long time this optimism in me start to die out.

To the personal fortress, you know I always wonder when I see those apocalyptic scenes of destruction in Tornado Alley... why da fuck nobody build there solid houses. Paper thin plywood, light "ecological" or other shit materials that can be torn in parts by mild wind not speaking about a fraking tornado. Some of building are made from bricks, they survive in more or less better shape...but all those wooden doll houses are just disintegrate. Then why, after this happens they still build there houses from plywood not something solid like bloody concrete. You can build it in that way that it look nice, be ecological and money saving construction. It will be solid, wind proof home, or just build a bloody concrete citadel inside house where you will hide your family and most precious things.

Yeah I know that it will cost more, but what is better, rebuild own house every fraking time or just have that whole or core intact and just repair what was damage? The same thing I have here in Poland, we don't have too much strong wind situations, more floods that hit every year. In this year I saw house which is flooded every time from last 4 years... water are never higher then one meter. And I start to think, yeah we build most of our houses from bricks, but why that person will not build solid concrete wall around it plot, 1.5m high and 1m deep. That would put a solid barricade against the flood and he will be not flooded every fraking year.

But to the meritum, people think about today not about tomorrow or a year forward. You will have a nice plywood house, 9mm bullet will enter it walls like knife in the butter, the attacker don't need to enter thru door, he will fraking enter thru wall! This is not a video game where 1cm obstacle will stop everything including tactical nuke. This is real life.

Sometimes you need to run, but what if Sol' there is no place to run or road is blocked? How many people will have that home citadel, home fortress where they will have the possibility to defend for real, not 1cm plywood walls?

    3. The idea of a small room made of reinforced concrete is quite good, and can be relatively cheap, since you don't have to rebuild your entire house. One thing you can't forget in that case, make some kind of surveillance. That's pretty important.

    4. Breacher here, ain't no walls no matter how thick cannot be breached.
Got a door? Breacher can blow it open, got vents to breath? Breacher can pour in gasoline and a road flare.
Under ground? Breacher can bury it deep.
Or Breacher can just wait till you walk out.

    5. A fortress or safe room will protect you from individual thieves, but not organized criminals. Which includes the local police checking for 'hoarders' and confiscating their provisions.

The real answer is to know your community and act collectively. Stay nimble, pay attention, and work together.

  2. Sol, since the tension is so high across the country I wonder what would have to occur to cause wide spread riots in say LA, Chicago, and New York. I'm guessing if something lights off in a major city it might spread like the gangs that were running through malls beating people up.

  3. I own quarter horses so I have wire fences already up, filed wire topped with barb wire and electric fence.
It's laid out in section's to permit moving the horses from one pasture to the next a maze so to speak.
Of course there is the dogs and the obligatory Shotgun, 30/30 and such.
    Lights to illuminate.
So come have a purge, walk into my light, get tangled in wire, and what ever the horses don't kick shit out of and the dogs don't eat I'll just shoot.
    Or feed to the Hogs.
Just kidding I wouldn't inflict purge meat on hogs.

  5. Ok I watched the video they actual eye witness can be heard around 6min 30sec. By they way if this turns out to be a justified shoot and the officer is no billed that city will burn. A few more may as well. Oh and if you watch the video from the start to 6:30 mark you can hear how the story kept evolving from they shot him with his hands up to they shot him and he went to the ground and then they stood over him and shot some more.
