This is the nightmare scenario.  The F-35 drains resources, underperforms AND languishes in the co-currency hell that Pentagon leaders agreed to....while the Chinese do things properly and get their airplane into service.

I wonder if the clearly illegal and unexplainable rush to declare the F-35 initially operational had more to do with intel indicating the the J-20 was going into service rather than an indication that the plane was ready (which it clearly isn't)?
