Boycott over the Oscars when the community is suffering economically?

NOTE:  I know this isn't for everyone but this stuff is going from pissing me off to having me punch walls.  Bear with me.

via CNN.
(CNN)Invoking the Rev. Martin Luther King's legacy on his birthday, two prominent African-Americans announced Monday that they will boycott this year's Academy Awards over a lack of diversity among nominees.
Filmmaker Spike Lee and actress Jada Pinkett Smith posted separate messages Monday saying they would not be attending the February 28 ceremony. The Oscars have drawn criticism after an all-white slate of major nominees was announced Thursday for the second year in a row.
"We cannot support it and [I] mean no disrespect ... But, how is it possible for the second consecutive year all 20 contenders under the acting category are white? And let's not even get into the other branches," Lee wrote on Instagram. "Forty white actors in two years and no flava at all. We can't act?! WTF!!"
For better or worse actors are part of black "leadership" (damnit you should have voted for me!) and this is what they consider important?

This is what they choose to make a stand on?

Really?

Fucking seriously?

The black community is suffering from crime, economic desperation, the list goes on and this is what black leadership is concerned about?  Just plain wow!  The talk about cops shooting black people?  I don't even think twice about that...a bigger concern is will a young black man shoot me if I go into the hood and they decide that I'm a worthwhile target!

MLK day was yesterday and this is what the topic is.  How can you be taken seriously if you act foolishly?  This is stupid in a handbag.
